About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and professionally accomplished Senior Civil Engineer to take a leading technical role in supporting the design of civil infrastructure projects. Working within a dynamic and technically rigorous professional services environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering outputs, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that all design work meets relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. This role demands a strong command of civil and structural engineering principles, with the ability to create high quality technical outputs to required standard. The successful candidate will be at ease operating in an environment that values academic rigour, continuous professional development, and independent technical reasoning. Comfort with reading and applying engineering textbooks, technical manuals, standards, specifications, drawings, software manuals and reports is expected as a matter of course. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and oversee the technical design of civil infrastructure projects - Produce and validate engineering calculations, drawings, and technical specifications - conversant with applicable engineering standards, codes of practice, and contractual specifications - Mentor and guide graduate and trainee engineers, supporting their structured development - Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams - Contribute to quality assurance processes and technical audits - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments, standards, and best practice
Requirements
Candidates must hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline, with a postgraduate qualification being advantageous. Significant post-qualification experience in civil engineering design and/or supervision is required, with a demonstrable track record of delivering infrastructure projects to a high standard. Professional registration with a recognised engineering institution (such as COREN) is required or must be actively being pursued. The ability to exercise independent professional judgement, review and validate technical outputs, and take responsibility for the quality of engineering deliverables is fundamental to this role. The candidate must demonstrate practical, hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one recognised civil engineering design software package such as STAAD.Pro, WaterCAD, Civil 3D, or Tekla structures, with evidence of having used such tools in a live project design context. . Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to interpret complex technical documentation, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of professional practice are essential.
